Making a FIX connection
The development FIX endpoint can be reached using the following connection parameters:
- Host: fix.agora.dev.metapolitan.io
- Port: 5001
- SendCompID: TKNSEBR
- TargetCompID: TKNSE
- Supported Version: 4.2
In order to use the FIXYL application to connect to this endpoint, click on + Create New Profile button on the starting page. The following illustration clearly shows the button on the first starting page.
After clicking the new profile button, a sliding form opens from the left. Use the given information above on the FIX endpoint and fill the form. Choose 4.x in the FIX version list. The following picture illustrates a filled form for a new profile called fix test.
Moving on with the form, you need to provide a Dictionary XML File containing the FIX 4.x Specification. In order to download this file, open your browser and enter the following link: FIX42 . Then click on the Download button illustrated below to download the file and store it somewhere easy to remember on your computer; let's say your Desktop.
Go back to your incomplete form in the FIXYL app, and select the downloaded XML file (it should be now on your Desktop) after clicking on the Browse button.
The current development endpoint is not SSL secured. Therefore, don't change anything in the SSL Configuration pane and finish filling the form by clicking the Save button. Now, you should be able to see your recenlty created profile in the sliding left panel as illustrated below.
Click on the Connect button and it must show you a green CONNECT status as shown below in the main window. Note that, you have to click somewhere on the background in order to close the sliding left panel and see the green CONNECT status.
Now, you are connected to the endpoint successfully and you can send FIX messages. The first one must be the LogOn message and we will cover it in the next section.
